It's time we step up...

  • The Gangotri glacier is receding 23 metres each year. This is not only
Himalayan glacier vanishing - all of them are.
  • The sea level is set to rise by 20 feet. As much as 20% of Indian's
coastal areas are threatened by the rising sea. The recent floods in
Mumbai are a grim reminder of what might be in store.
  • More than a million species are today threatened and could be extinct
by 2050. Within 25 years, 3 lakh people will die every year worldwide
because of teh devastation resulting from global warming.

Global Warming - two words thats today spell the most urgent issue
facing humanity. We no longer have the luxury of time to debate the
issue. As top Indian environmentalist R. K. Pachauri, who currently heads
the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, says, " If there is no
action before 2012, its too late. What we do in the next two-three years
will determine our future. This is the defining moment."
The time is over for arguing that the developed western countries are
responsible for the current mess and should, therefore, clear it. It's too
late to determine who ignited the fire. It's raging and before it mars the
future of our children, we need to act.
Its the only world we have, lets heal it.

I have not written this article. Its a compilation of an article I read in the news paper and thought it was a very important issue. Please leave your comments.

Its very simple really!

I was back home for summer vacations and today is my first morning back in Pune. Its 6.30 am and normally I'm fast asleep at this time but there is something different about this morning. Or is there? No I'd say there is something different in my perception of this morning. Its a very cloudy day outside, no signs of sunshine and yet its the most peaceful morning I have seen in weeks. I live on the 5th floor hence most of the street noises are drowned by the time it reaches here. Its very beautiful indeed. Lush green trees, amazing sweet-scented fresh air wit birds cheeping excitedly overwhelm the cloudy melancholy morning. The whole atmosphere makes you want to make changes, maybe at work, lifestyle or just activities. It's the kind of day that pops a little voice in your head which says, "Hey look! even the birds are making efforts to brighten up a day which the skies have doomed to be gloomy! Maybe you should try that too!". Well I sure am going to invest my time in fruitful activities today, wish you do the same!

An article I read....

This is an excellant article i read by Osho...

Emotional Fitness
Even while anger is happening m if you suddenly become conscious, it drops. Try it. Just in the middle, when yu are feeling very hot and would like to commit murder, suddenly become aware, and you will feel something has changed; a gear inside, you can feel the click. Something has changed, now its no more the same thing. Your inner being has relaxed.

Be a Visionary - Don't Think, Just See
Whenever you look. Try it. Its going to be difficult, just because of an old habit. But try it. It happens. It has happened to many why not you? Just make a little effort. You see a flower, then just see it, dont say anything. Clouds are moving in the sky : lie down on the ground and see, and don't say anything. Just dont verbalise.

On life's way never keep to the left, never keep to the right. Just to the middle. In the middle there will be glimpses of balance. There is a point, you can understand, you can feel it, there is a point when you are not leaning to either extreme, you are exactly in the middle. Try it. In that split second suddenly there is grace, everything is in equilibrium.

My first post..

Well, something I had been wondering for a long time now is about Indian Television, I mean, what is happening to it? I am a student doing my final year in BBA and don't really get to watch a lot of television because I don't stay at home anymore. I'm home now for my vacations and well I'm just surprised at the difference in quality matter of all television shows. We have our Star Plus, Sony Zee and even Star One dishing out a load of crap every single day! So does the Indian audience actually watch all these daily? Thats almost unimaginable to me. Suddenly our channels are sprouting with new shows, new actors but the very same story lines. Everything is so repetitive and absolutely frustrating, that health wise, I think these shows should be considered highly dangerous! The only solace I find are in channels like Travel & Living, Discovery and the English Channels. The music channels too now seemed to have started their own line of reality shows which are fun up to a certain extent but then are as good as the soaps with all the politics and back-biting and bitching. The news channels of course provide more entertainment to me than news whereby the same news is twisted and turned and squeezed till it turns sour. With the absolutely over-dramatic tone of talking and over emphatic way of expression I am truly aghast as to what they are really trying to achieve. This phase of Indian Television needs to pass soon (and I say phase as I really really hope it is one). We need some good quality shows with logic and sense and we need it soon. Do post your views.
